We librarians had a treat this past Friday at the Harold Washington Library in downtown Chicago. A representative from Trader Joe's provided snacks and talked about customer service. How can a grocery store and a library find common ground? By the way they treat their people. Many librarians don't like to apply the term, "customer" to the people who visit their institution, but that's exactly who those library visitors are. It's up to us library workers to make sure that our customers are happy with the service they receive, especially in this time of big economic challenges. Remember, if your customer isn't happy, then they can always go somewhere else for their needs!
